YOURS TO PROTECT WEEKEND

Take action to say Ontario is not for sale

We’re turning Earth Day into a three-day ‘Yours to Protect’ weekend so we can all come together to celebrate Ontario’s natural heritage and call on our government to do a better job protecting it!

What’s YTP WEEKEND ALL ABOUT?

While local groups have different local issues, they all care about Ontario’s natural heritage and want the province to do a better job protecting it.

First and foremost, we need to build vibrant, affordable and sustainable communities throughout the province.  By housing people in walkable communities close to where they work, we can reduce our need for new highways and sprawl developments and preserve the wetlands, farmland and forests we cherish so dearly.  We envision an Ontario where our cities, towns and villages grow within nature, instead of on top of it. It’s also important to just get outside and enjoy the natural beauty that is all around us!

KEY ISSUES:

  • Stopping Sprawl
  • Stopping the 413 and the Bradford Bypass
  • Building Walkable Communities
  • Keeping our lakes and rivers clean and healthy
  • Protecting Conservation Areas
  • Stronger Climate Policies

Some local groups are delivering the Ontario Environmental Priorities Working Group Questionnaire to their MPP and MPP candidates because it does a good job of covering the wide range of policy issues that are important to Ontarians and they want to know where there local candidates stand on the issues.
